Meet Our New Deli Manager!
Let us introduce you to Evan Winters, Midtown Market’s new deli manager. Evan joined the Midtown Market team about three years ago as a member of our deli department and kitchen staff. In that time he developed some mad cooking skills and put his own spin on a few of our specialty deli sandwiches. Now Evan is the “go-to” guy for just about everything related to our kitchen, from the deli sandwich menu to the fresh weeknight meals that we prepare for take out throughout the week.
Before coming to Midtown Market, Evan’s interest in cooking wasn’t anything out of the norm. He loved traveling, photography and skateboarding. He and his friends spent as much time as they could, exploring different cities and towns and taking spontaneous road trips. However, in all of his adventures, Evan had not spent a great deal of time whipping things up in the kitchen until coming to Midtown Market.
“Midtown Market is where it all started for me,” Evan says. “It was here that I learned to cook and began to love it.”
With his love of cooking came a desire to experiment with new food flavors and ingredients. Evan loves to test out new products and to create menu items that our customers love to take home. He uses fresh ingredients available in our grocery store and shares creative ideas with customers on ways they can integrate the various Boar’s Head meats and cheeses from our delicatessen.
“I love cooking anything and I’m always learning and trying new things,” Evan says.
The success we achieve at Midtown Market comes directly from our loyal customers and from the team who works together to make things happen around here. Evan has already played a big role in the inspiration that goes on in our deli. In his new role with Midtown Market he’s now working closely with our butcher, Ricky Rowell, to bring new variety to the prepared meats that are available in the deli case and in our dinner menu specials.
He’s also combining his talents with the other team members to experiment with new salads and other interesting menu items for the deli.
Evan is just as excited as we are about his new position at Midtown Market.
“Everything about cooking gets me energized, especially when it’s something new that I have never cooked before,” he says. “I always love the anticipation of waiting to see how a new dish is going to turn out.”
Next time you stop by the deli counter at Midtown Market be sure to give Evan a high five for all that he’s achieved in these last few years and buy one of his delicious sandwiches while you’re at it.
